Activities that an individual with dementia might have enjoyed during the warmer months, like gardening. going for strolls around the neighbourhood, or spending time on a patio can become difficult when fighting the cold. There are many activities that can be done indoors to stimulate and engage an individual with dementia that are proven successful every day at One Kenton Place. Some programs we love to do with cur residents here are quite simple and can be done anywhere. Sorting kits are a great tool to use and are very easy to make. Other sorting ideas would be: cards by suit, cutlery, large nuts and bolts, poker chips, themed pictures and many other items Other programs that are beneficial and stimulating can inckude ife skills or household chores. Activities can indude folding napkins, setting the table, wash or dry the dishes, help with watering he indor plants, dusting or folding the laundry. These types of programs enable individuals with dementia to feel purposeful and accomplished and are easy to initiate as these are often tasks have done prior to their diagnosis.
